Tay – Upper Kinnaird

This beat consists of two beats (formerly Upper and Lower Logierait). The upper section is fished 3 days a week on an alternative day basis.
It is approximately 2 miles long and consists of some very slow deep water. the best pool is the Newton pool which is 55ft at it’s deepest. A boat can always be worked harling at all heights on this beat. From the bank the most productive methods are spinning and worming.
The lower section is fished 6 days a week and consists of approximately half a mile of Tay water and half a mile of Tummel water. The best pool on the Tay is the rock pool. Other good spots include the bridge, cottage pool, green bank and channel.
Under high water conditions this beat can fish extremely well from a boat. It is a good Spring beat with the largest salmon in recent times weighing in at 38lbs. With decent water heights, this beat can also fish well in the autumn with as many as 15 salmon in one day landed by anglers on the beat in recent times.
