The Nairn (often referred to as “The Little Gem”) rises in the Monadhliath Mountains and flows north eastwards through Strathnairn and into the Moray Firth. The river flows through hill country at the top and through flattish farming land in the lower reaches, with no barriers to migrating fish. The NAA (formed in 1923) has eight miles of water and offers some of the best salmon and sea trout fishing in Scotland to locals and visitors alike, providing great sport in its various delightful pools – particularly in medium to high water.
