This is one of the Tweed’s most prolific low water beats and it has done exceptionally well in dry years. Its position next to the tidal waters, often allows large quantities of fish to build up as they are forced to wait for higher water. A classic example of this was the very dry season in 2003 which resulted in a truly remarkable catch. Ladykirk is best in the early autumn, although it offers very reasonable fishing throughout the year. Primarily a salmon beat, it also has a good run of sea trout.
The beat mostly lies within the policies of Ladykirk House with good access to the main pools through the beautiful parkland. The three mile beat is all single bank, but throughout most of its length, this is the better bank. The former stone netting shiels have been renovated to make excellent fishing huts with up to five boats available. The meeting room can be used to store clothing, equipment and fish.
