Tweed – Ashiestiel

This is a popular beat amongst Upper Tweed fishers, who return year after year. It is located opposite Nest and just above Peel, in spectacular countryside with a diverse range of wildlife. The beat consists of two miles of the right bank and there are six named pools.

It is fished by six rods, fishing three sub-beats in pairs, rotating at the middle and end of each day. A full time ghillie is employed during the autumn.

The large riverside hut is located in the middle of the beat, which you can get your car to. Facilities in the autumn include a chemical toilet and provision of tea and coffee.

Although extensive work has been carried out to the river banks and access roads over the past couple of years, access to some of the remainder of the beat requires some walking.

Sea trout appear here in early summer, enjoying the shady valley. The owners are keen to encourage fishing for these, at a nominal charge, so please telephone for further details.
