Canterland is situated about 3 miles from the sea with the Morphie beat at its lower end and the Gallery beat at the upper.
It is one of the most productive beats on the North Esk offering a delightful balance of fly and spinning water dependant on water height. The river banks are well maintained there having been an extensive programme of repair work carried out over recent years. There is a full time ghillie and well-equipped fishing hut.Catch and release until 31 May.
The North Esk coastal netting was suspended by the Esk District Salmon Fishery Board at the commencement of the 2008 season.
In-river netting continues from May through to the end of the netting season being 31 August.
The beat fishes well throughout the season with plenty of optimism for improvement in the coming years. It is a beautiful beat to fish.
