Tweed – Cardrona

Cardrona lies in an attractive part of Tweed-dale comprising mainly upland hills and small areas of mature parkland. The fishings are adjacent to Cardrona Village on the right bank and the bottom of the beat marches with Glenormiston. The beat has been under new ownership since late 2007. The new owners are experienced anglers, most of whom have fished the beat for many years.

One of the most productive of the upper river beats, fish are usually present from September to the season’s end. In a dry year, fishing may not start in earnest until October, however, in a wet summer, fresh fish can be present considerably earlier, with fish around in numbers as early as July and August. Sea trout are generally caught during the main salmon run, however, fish are caught in the summer, despite little concerted effort. Cardrona catches between 60-90 fish per year.
