The fly only Cortachy fishings are immediately upstream of Sheilhill Bridge near Kirriemuir, and extend for three miles (almost all double bank) for a maximum of six rods _ divided into two beats of three rods each, rotating daily. The lower beat, Downie Park, is one mile long with 14 named pools. The upper beat is some two miles long with 20 named pools including the Meetings pool at the confluence with the Prosen. Renowned for its sea trout fishing with the best months June and July. There are also good runs of salmon with the best months April, May, September and October. There is a full time ghillie, and a well appointed fishing hut on each beat.
