Minnoch – Forestry Commission

The beauty of this upland section is not only the affordable fishing it offers but the quiet of the Galloway Forest Park that accompanies it. Britains largest forest park provides you with a chance to escape from it all whilst enjoying your favourite activities.
There are some lovely holding pools for salmon on this stretch, which also supports a resident wild brown trout population. Salmon and grilse tend to be caught from late July onwards.
The beat needs a rise in water to fish well but it can be very productive given the right conditions. For example, at the end of the 2006 season, GFT biologists angling for broodstock landed 8 salmon in 3 hours!
