Annan – Kinnel, Kerse

This beat is fished as part of the River Annan Small Streams Passport.

The Kinnel is the Annan’s largest tributary and has very good runs of sea trout and salmon.

This section of the river meanders through stunning native woodland and rough pasture.

The river is gravelly in the lower two thirds and rocky in the top section.

There are loads of pools and riffles to provide an enchanting days fishing.

The population of brown trout is mainly made up of smallish (sub pound) fish with the occasional larger fish.

Sea trout will take up residence from August onwards and salmon will become very abundant from October, given water.
