Mertoun Upper Water is part of Mertoun Estate Fishings and forms one of the famous “middle beat” waters on the River Tweed in beautiful countryside near St. Boswells. Access to the Upper Water is good and it is possible to take cars directly on to the beat.
There is excellent fishing for three rods, all six pools of the beat differ in nature and fish well at all normal heights of water. There are boats on three pools from February to April and September to November.
Two fishing huts are available for use. The services of a ghillie are available from February to April and September to November inclusive, with an extra ghillie available, on request, for the Autumn Season. The beat is normally let on a weekly basis, but during some periods, rods are let on a daily basis. Self catering accommodation adjacent to the beat is also available.
