Mountblairy is some three miles below Turriff. It is split into two _ Upper and Lower. Upper beat (for two rods) is three quarters of a mile of the left bank with 12 named pools. Lower beat (also for two rods) is half a mile of double bank with nine named pools in three sections (Upper, Middle and Lower Shaws). The British record fly-caught salmon of 61 lb fish was landed in Middle Shaws and there is a plaque by the fishing hut commemorating this momentous event.
