Cree – Newton Stewart Angling Association

The Newton Stewart Angling Association (NSAA) beat on the River Cree is situated in the heart of Newton Stewart and offers visitors affordable fishing, which can be very productive. There are 12 named pools (some substantial in size) all of which are easily accessible from the car parking. The best pools on the Association waters are the Brewery, Doctors, Suspension Bridge and Ghyll pools. Most of the fishing is double bank with only a small stretch of single bank fishing.

This water begins from the tidal part of the Cree (see link to other photos), which can be very productive, even in low water. Spring salmon are caught in most years and there is also a run of summer salmon in May/June with abundant grilse entering the river in July.

If you are keen to fish in the evening, the association water is the most productive sea trout beat on the River Cree and good night fishing can be had.
