The Burn beat is set in 200 acres of beautiful land on the edge of the Grampians. The river is only 150 yards from the main 18th century mansion house, set in an outstanding area of beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), because of the unusual gorge.
The North Esk is a first class salmon river, draining almost 290 square miles, with brown and sea trout also present. The river rises high in the Grampians to flow from Glen Esk to the sea at Montrose, a distance of 30 miles. It has long been recognised as one of the most prolific salmon rivers, for its size, in Scotland. The Loups beat on The Burn is one which has always enticed anglers and fishing can be very productive.
Some 8 named pools are very accessible and productive – though a bit of a scramble to some. The pools are all signed and I will be happy to point tenants in the right direction. Please telephone the contact shown to arrange a time to meet at the Mansion House.
