The Old Mains beat has only recently been developed. It has approximately 2 miles of single-bank fishing, located on the right bank between the Ryehill fishery and the Upper-Nithsdale Angling Association waters. There are 7 named pools and 6 runs over the stretch.
There is ample parking, with packed-lunch facilities and accommodation in a self-ontained timber cabin.
