This beat is fished as part of the River Annan Small Streams Passport.
The Kinnel is the Annan’s largest tributary and has very good runs of sea trout (June – August) and salmon (September – November).
On this fishery there are several shoals of grayling to over 3lb and good stocks of resident brown trout.
Most of the brown trout will be around the 3/4lb to 11/2lb mark but there will also be fish in excess of 4lb caught every year.
Large chub have been seen on the fishery on numerous occasions and perch are known to be present in the slower deeper sections.
The banks are a mixture of tall grasses and riparian trees which offer shade in bright conditions.
Throughout the fishery there are long flowing pools which will hold good numbers of fish
