This is the bottom fishery on the Tweed, and it excels in low water conditions. There are three miles of single bank fishing on the Scottish (left) side, with plenty of easy wading, bank fishing as well as from a boat.
The water includes streams, riffles, glides and runs and is most attractive with 24 named pools. A full time ghillie looks after the four rods with an extra ghillie taken on at peak times. Given low water conditions July and August can produce wonderful sport when higher Tweed beats are having a lean time.
Tweedhill has experienced two of its best seasons in recent times. In 2010 there was a total catch return of 371 salmon with over 260 of these in August and September. The 2011 season has seen new records set on the beat with a spring return producing more fish than the 5 year average for the whole season. The beat recorded 126 salmon by the end of June, with a number of salmon estimated to weigh in excess of 20 lb.
