Tweed – Till, Upper Tindal

The Upper Tindal beat runs downstream of Etal Village with over 1.5 miles of fishing. This stretch is fished from the left bank with some access on the right bank. Most of the right bank is heavily wooded.

The car park for this beat is just North of Etal Village, along a woodland track. 300 yards downstream of the park is a swing bridge which gives access to the left bank. This bridge has recently been upgraded with a solid base and high netted sides making it very safe.

From Etal Village the nature of the Till changes becoming much faster flowing over rock, with white water streams into deep pools, creating ideal fly water. A single handed fly rod will cover the pools. some Anglers use a double handed rod on this beat to fish a large fly in heavy water, also to control the fly in some of the fast streams. Spey casting helps on a couple of the pools.

Upper Tindal has 16 pools. Spinner and worm are also allowed under Tweed Rules. The beat is let day or night from May to August during the main Seatrout run.
